What are Cheap Hours?

Cheap Hours is a new offer from TAURON that introduces variable electricity rates throughout the day. This allows customers to pay less for electricity during hours when the market price is lower—for example, at night, early in the morning or during the day when renewable energy production is high.

96
Hour zones during the year

The Cheap Hours offer includes 24 price zones for electricity throughout the day. To understand how Cheap Hours works with the G13s tariff, You need to understand the basic division:

Daily summer rates

• highest electricity prices will be in the morning (8:00-9:00 AM) and evening (6:00-9:00 PM).

• nighttime hours (10:00-7:00 PM) will be the cheapest.

Summer weekend rates

• the hours of reduced and increased rates remain the same as weekdays.

• the lowest energy prices will be on summer weekends.

Winter daily rates

• the highest prices will be during peak hours: morning (8:00-10:00 AM) and evening (4:00-9:00 PM).

• It is recommended to schedule energy-intensive work between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM and at night (10:00-7:00 AM).

Winter weekend rates

• the highest energy prices are the same like those on weekdays.

• the nighttime rate remains unchanged, as on weekdays. The lowest prices will be at night.

Cost predictability

Thanks to pre-determined rates that remain unchanged throughout the price list period, the customer is not exposed to the risk of fluctuating energy prices on the commodity exchange.

You have a real influence on Your bills.

By understanding the Cheap Hours schedule, You can consciously influence Your home's energy consumption. The key is to adjust Your daily habits and schedule energy-intensive devices —such as the washing machine, water heater or dishwasher—for the hours when electricity is cheapest. While manually controlling the operating time of these devices can sometimes be difficult, automation is the ideal solution.

How to automate Your home for Cheap Hours?

To fully benefit from variable pricing, You need a system that automatically turns electrical devices on and off at optimal times. This is where comes in LAVVA a smart home control system from Zamel, which allows You to track energy consumption and control device operation via an app.

As part of our partnership with TAURON, we have prepared a special energy management kit, available in two versions:

Kit 1

Kit 2

LAVVA SMART SYSTEM

How does it work in practice?

LAVVA power analyzes energy consumption in real time.

The system downloads a price schedule from TAURON (publicly available) and uses it to determine when to activate selected devices.

The controllers (double/switch) turn devices on or off automatically, according to programmed scenarios.

This allows the user to:

  • save on electricity bills
  • reduce peak grid load
  • use energy more ecologically

What is the difference between Cheap Hours and a dynamic pricing offer?

Although both offers are based on variable energy rates, they differ in the pricing method and billing predictability. In the case of the dynamic price offer, ratesare determined based on current quotations from the Polish Power Exchange (RDN), which means they can change daily and are susceptible to numerous external factors, such as weather conditions, the geopolitical situation and demand levels. In the Cheap Hours offer, the customer benefits from a pre-defined price list, where the lower price times are known in advance and are valid for the entire duration of contract. This allows for convenient energy consumption planning without daily monitoring of market conditions.

Summary

A modern home is not only comfortable but also economical. By combining the LAVVA system with TAURON's Cheap Hours tariffs, everyone can adjust their electricity consumption to the most profitable hours of the day—without having to constantly monitor the switches.
